RescueVoice is a purpose-built speech-generating app engineered specifically for first responders and medical personnel to use with individuals who have limited speech or who are unable to speak because of a medical event. The application contains both tap-to-talk icons and text-to-speech capabilities. Instructions are provided on each page for a more user-friendly interface. Pre-stored vocabulary related to symptoms, pain, body parts, allergies, medications, people, time, and places is included based on feedback from first responders and individuals who use AAC. Fostering a more inclusive and responsive approach, RescueVoice equips those on the frontlines of care with the tools necessary to effectively communicate in high-stakes events where information is critical.

RescueVoice was created at The University of Iowa by speech-language pathologist and clinical professor, Krista Davidson, in close collaboration with Custom Solutions and Integrations, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, and the University of Iowa Research Foundation. RescueVoice uses icons from The Noun Project (thenounproject.com).

Thank you to the generosity and support of the North Liberty Optimists Club, the Solon Lions Club, The University of Iowa Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, and the United States Society for AAC.

Proceeds from sales contribute to ongoing maintenance and continued development and upgrades to the application. Each iOS device used by different individuals requires a separate license.

RescueVoice may not be compatible with custom AAC voices. Using a default voice is recommended.
